Calgary Minor Soccer Association - Executive Director

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Join the Calgary Minor Soccer Association as their Executive Director and fuel their vision, “Success through soccer”. CMSA represents 37 member-clubs and is the largest sport organization in Calgary, providing year-round activity for youth ages 6 to 19.

As their Executive Director you will be a champion for soccer and will own responsibility for the successful leadership and management of the association and for consistent achievement of its mission and organizational objectives. You will become a presence with media, sponsors and stakeholders with your collaborative and engaging leadership style. Driven, you look forward to creating an exceptional league and will join CMSA equipped with your clear understanding of the non-profit sports administration sector and government systems, legislation and financing.

As the successful candidate you come with the following:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior leadership/CEO/ED position working collaboratively with a volunteer Board of Directors, with a strong understanding of youth sports from a community and organizational level;
  • Strong business skills. Strategic planning, people and organizational leadership, sound financial knowledge, innovative program development and human resources management;
  • Excellent resource development and negotiating skills. A strategic approach to developing sustainable funding and a strong financial foundation; and
  • Excellent communication skills. A demonstrated ability to tailor communication to different audiences, particularly staff, sponsors, community leaders, and partner agencies. You will need to be comfortable speaking in public.

Preferred competencies include an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the sport of soccer and the core concepts of Long-Term Player Development, as well as 5+ years’ experience with municipal government, preferably with youth sports.
