Legal Aid Alberta - Legal Services Manager

Are you a leader of leaders? Legal Aid Alberta needs a Legal Services Manager (“LSM”) in their downtown Calgary office. This position will appeal to an individual that likes to take initiative, is client focused and is exceptionally strong in delivering high-quality results.

Reporting to the Managing Director, as LSM, you will manage a team of seven to fifteen individuals and be primarily responsible for providing management and leadership support to staff lawyers and professional staff. You will provide oversight, mentorship, coaching and legal practice advice, enabling leaders to strategically plan and develop the day-to-day activities to effectively solve problems and support clients.

To excel in this role, you will require the following competencies:

• A law degree from a recognized law school.
• Active membership with the Law Society of Alberta with a minimum of five years of litigation and court experience in the areas of criminal, family or immigration law.
• A strong management background with a key understanding of governance and litigation processes.
• Previous coaching, mentorship and/or leadership experience is preferred.
