What a Difference
What a difference a calendar quarter makes. Back in early February when I wrote the Winter 2020 edition of Follow the Leader, our biggest worries included Edmonton’s winter weather and we let the world know a little bit about The Vogel Group’s involvement and commitment to our community.
No April Fool’s Joke
How the world has changed. In this COVID-19 environment, The Vogel Group are all working remotely from home. Which is a little ironic as we took possession on April 1st (no April Fool’s joke here) of our brand-new office in 103 Street Centre. While the official move-in date is later this month, the space looks great and we are looking forward to personally welcoming you with a handshake or a hug as soon as it is safe to do so. Our emails and phone numbers remain unchanged and we will officially announce our new address following the move.
Stay Disciplined… and Wash Your Hands!
New office aside, we are in for a tough time, along with most Albertans. The economy is grinding to a halt, unemployment is going up and organizational uncertainty is at a level I have never seen in my 34 years in the workplace.
So what can we all do? Stay disciplined with the advice and guidance from our health leaders. Stay at home. Wash your hands regularly. Practise social distancing. Wash your hands regularly. Stay in touch with your family, friends and personal network. And wash your hands regularly.
We have been bombarded with how to wash our hands. For the science behind it, click here.
Thank the essential service workers you see at the gas station, grocery store, bank, delivering something to your door, hospital and operating our public transportation. They put themselves and their families at risk so we can function reasonably well. We can’t thank them too much.
Stay Connected
We don’t know when we will “get back to normal” or even what the normal will look like. But The Vogel Group will be here when that happens. At this time, we are reaching out to stay connected with all our clients, candidates, vendors and contacts. There is absolutely something therapeutic, comforting and cathartic in connecting over FaceTime, Zoom or Skype to say “hi”, to share a smile or to lift someone’s sprits who may be struggling.
What Have We Been Up To?
This quarter we’ve completed following searches:
- Executive Director & Registrar for Alberta College and Association of Opticians
- Manager, Financial Planning and Budgets for Athabasca University
- Operations Manager, Microtunneling for The Crossing Group
- Vice President, Academic for Medicine Hat College
What Roles Should be on Your Radar?
Currently we’re working on:
- Board of Directors for Capital Region Housing Corporation
- Director, Retail Strategy & Environmental Sustainability for Habitat for Humanity
- Leadership Development Program for Beaver Municipal Solutions
Know of anyone that may be interested in hearing more about these current searches?

A number of our clients have understandably “hit the pause button” on current search projects, but we are in constant communication with them and hope these projects come back online soon.
Until our next newsletter in July, The Vogel Group wishes for you and your families to stay safe and healthy. It is being said over and over but we are truly in this together. And we WILL get through this together. We look forward to staying connected throughout this time and being able to “share some personal space” with you in the foreseeable future.
Until Next Time,
Rick, Julie, Rae Ann, Renee and Steven
