Nurse Practitioner - Madawaska Valley Family Health Team

THE ROLE

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a highly valued member of the team, providing care for patients of all ages.  The NP provides medical care, education and coordination of care for patients experiencing a spectrum of medical issues from new life events to episodic illness to chronic disease.  

This Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is a permanent 0.9 FTE shared between two organizations and includes the provision of one day per week of service at the Indigenous Primary Health Care Team.  

The teams will negotiate a salary at the high end of the ministry pay scale.  We have been approved for the Community Commitment Program for Nurses/NPs which provides a significant (up to $25,000 over 2 years) retention bonus for eligible NPs for more information please visit: https://www.healthforceontario.ca/en/Home/All_Programs/Community_Commitment_Program_for_Nurses

This position is additionally supported by compassionate NPs from both organizations, eager to mentor and collaborate with you when you start.             

  • Conduct skilled examinations appropriate to the age / sex / risk factors of each patient, including preventive interventions and immunizations as per current clinical guidelines
  • Determine the need for, order, perform and review appropriate diagnostic tests
  • Collaborate and liaise positively with physicians, office staff and other team members to optimize outcomes to the patient

  • Participate in Team activities and attend Team meetings

Please note that this position may require local travel and flexible work hours. The candidate must hold a valid driver’s license.

THE CANDIDATE

  • Current registration (or eligible for registration) with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Nurse Practitioner – Primary Health Care (NP-PHC)
  • Graduate of a recognized Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current registration with the NPAO and evidence of liability insurance.
  • Strong clinical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in community and/or primary care medicine.
