The University of Alberta Properties Trust (UAPT) was formed by the University of Alberta to develop or re-develop lands deemed by the University as not central to its academic mission of teaching and research. UAPT is an arm’s length, independent, incorporated trust with the University of Alberta as its sole shareholder. Its mission is to develop the lands entrusted to it in a manner that creates enduring value for the University and the surrounding community.
THE ROLE
As the President and CEO of UAPT, you will have the unique opportunity to lead these landmark projects, guiding them from conceptualization through to completion. Your strategic vision and leadership will be crucial in ensuring that developments like Michener Park and West 240 not only meet but exceed stakeholder expectations, contributing to the long-term sustainability and growth of the University of Alberta and the broader Edmonton community. This role demands a dynamic leader capable of navigating complex development processes, fostering community engagement, and delivering projects that set new standards in urban development.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have the following or will have the equivalent combination of skills and experience:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
- Real estate/land development experience. This may include urban planning, land development, residential, multi-family and commercial development.
- A proven successful track record in organizational strategic leadership.
- Experience reporting to a Board of Directors.
- Experience in a wide range of stakeholder engagement including, but not limited to, municipal and provincial governments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Corporate Strategy Development and Implementation.
- Real Estate Development and Implementation.
- Development and Execution of Annual Operating Plan and Budget.
- Stakeholder Engagement.
- Effective and Orderly Business Operations.
- Effective Oversight of Employee Management and Development.
