Alberta Soccer Association - Executive Director

Continue to create a Centre of Excellence for the game of soccer! The Alberta Soccer Association is the governing body for soccer in our province and they are seeking their next Executive Director (“ED”) who will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of the association according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader. They will have a strategic mindset and will be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others and will have a key understanding of the landscape of provincial and/or national amateur sport associations.

As the Executive Director of the largest individual sports association in Alberta, you will oversee and motivate a staff of eight professionals, members and volunteers that will aid to the success of the Alberta Soccer Association.

As such, your success will depend on the following competencies:

• An MBA or post graduate degree in Business Administration with relevant financial experience and/or a combination of relevant experience and education.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an ED capacity within a sports organization is preferred, although 7+ years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization may be considered.
• A strong business acumen with an ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels.
• Enthusiasm for the game! Experience and knowledge of the FUNdamentals of soccer in Alberta will be an absolute asset.

This role will be ideal for someone committed to the organization. Weekends and overtime may be required to accommodate board meetings and representing ASA at public events. Time off, of course, will be given in lieu.
