Located in Red Deer, you will be the Chief Engineer for both Universal and Goldec. Universal Handling Equipment, the parent company, has an established reputation in the waste handling and recycling equipment fabrication. A national supplier with continued growth since inception, its continual expansion has allowed Universal Handling to also serve the north central United States region. Goldec Hamm’s Manufacturing Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of truck and trailer-mounted tanks.

The group of companies employs a dynamic team who are constantly seeking ways to innovate within the industry and lead the company into new developmental opportunities, while fostering the growth of its employees and reshaping the company.

Jointly reporting to both company’s General Managers, as Chief Engineer you will lead a small team of C.E.T and P.Eng. designated professionals, and will have:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA (or able to register if out of province);
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of practical experience in a metal manufacturing organization including assembly techniques and steel welding;
  • Current experience with Autodesk Inventory and/or Solid Works;
  • Familiarity with Transport Canada Truck and Trailer requirements and regulations (CMVSS);
  • Familiarity with Transport Canada Transport of Dangerous Goods regulations as applicable to the manufacturing of tanks; and
  • Familiarity with CSA B-620 which sets out the requirements for design, construction, certification, assembly, modification, repair, testing, inspection, periodic re-testing, maintenance, and marking of highway tanks (tank trucks) and TC portable tanks for the transportation of dangerous goods.
