Governed by the Health Professions Act, the Alberta College of Pharmacy (“ACP”) is responsible for quality pharmacy practice in Alberta. The ACP governs pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies to support and protect the public’s health and well-being. ACP takes responsibility for pharmacy practice by setting and enforcing high standards of competence and ethical conduct. However, as a single entity within Alberta’s broader health system, interdependencies amongst partners and stakeholders are critical to success.

The ACP administers four core programs; registration and licensure, competence, professional practice, and complaints resolution. Responsible for the quality and safety of services provided by its registrants, the college invites a culture of quality improvement, recognizing and respecting its expectation to ensure compliance with, and enforcement of, minimum standards and requirements.

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Registrar, the Senior Director of Operations and Finance (Senior Director) is responsible for overseeing all operational functions of the college including finance, human resources and IT. The current team reporting to the Senior Director, both directly and indirectly, is approximately 11 professionals. The Senior Director will provide leadership, risk management, and maintain the college as a workplace of choice. Their efforts will ensure the financial stability and sustainability of the college, the identification of potential operational risks and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, and an effective workplace that enables team members to be successful personally and collectively.

What experience do you need to join the team?

  • A post-secondary under-graduate degree in accounting, commerce or a related field, or the equivalence in working experience;
  • A proven track record of strategic and operational team leadership;
  • Sound background in financial management, risk management, IT management and human resources administration;
  • Project management experience; and
  • A Canadian accounting designation would be considered an asset.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
